The STRENGTH Project coordination team at the Ministry of Climate Change wishes to recruit a qualified individual to the following position:

Position: Loss & Damage Officer
Contract: Individual Short-Term Contractor
Duty Station: Vanuatu-based at the Department of Climate Change
Contract Duration: through 31 October 2025 Remuneration: 100,000-300,000VT / month commensurate with skills and experience

The Loss & Damage Officer will be responsible for implementing of the Strengthening Loss and Damage Response Capacity in the Global South (STRENGTH) project as well as coordinating the loss and damage programming of the Department of Climate Change.

Qualification

- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, DRM, CC or related field

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience 3-5 years in technical research, report writing, consultation & liaison, project management, and/or coordination & policy development
• Specific experience in CC Loss & Damage initiatives in Vanuatu and UNFCCC platform networking strategy.
• Able to work independently – with minimum supervision and guidance from supervisors
• Ability to focus on a variety of tasks within a deadline-driven environment.
